Small town adventures: Almonte!
Today I’m kicking off my small town adventures series with my favourite small town, Almonte! There’s so much to see and do in the historic little town, and whether you’re there for a full day trip or just a couple of hours, you won’t be disappointed. Today I only had a couple of hours to spare so I wasn’t able to go to all of my favourite spots, but here’s a few that I definitely recommend checking out if you have the chance!
My first stop was obviously a coffee shop! Almonte has SO many great coffee shops, and today I decided to go to Ottawa Valley Coffee. I had a classic vanilla latte, and their chicken pesto panini is a personal favourite of mine. The staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. They also have live music nights as well as evening yoga classes, how cool is that!
After the coffee shop I went across the street to Acanthus Floral & Botanical! If you read my other blog post about my journey into floristy, you’ll know I’ve already mentioned how amazing Laura, Amy and Jamie are. Plus, they have so many different plants and flowers for every occasion! They definitely carry some of the most unique flowers I’ve ever seen. If you stop by, make sure to say Victoria sent you!
Next stop was the Tin Barn Market! They sell a curated variety of eclectic home decor and goods. I’ve always said it is exactly what I want our home to look and feel like. It’s so cozy! They have such a cute selection of botanical posters and puzzles that I’ve been collecting through the years. They also make their own line of candles that smell SO good, my favourite is the maple chai!
If you’ve been to Almonte before, you’ll know that there are many different antique shops to choose from! Today I stopped in at Almonte Antiques & Collectibles. They have everything you could ever hope for as an avid antiques shopper and collector. I especially love their vintage camera and typewriter section!
I couldn’t make a blog post about Almonte and not mention Witch Haus! If you’re looking for Halloween vibes all year round then this is the place to be. There are so many cool things to choose from like crystals, books, vintage clothing, accessories, oddities and more. The owner is also a skilled crafter that makes her own pottery pieces like plant holders and mini ceramic ghosts that she sells in the shop and at craft markets! While you’re visiting, make sure to come say hi to yours truly!
My last stop was Ramsay Creek! It’s not right on the main street in Almonte, but just a few minutes outside of it and definitely worth the short drive. Today was actually the first day their entire greenhouse is officially open! They have an amazing selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, veggies and more. It is definitely heaven for garden lovers! I’ve been going to Ramsay Creek since their opening day in 2020, and it has been so exciting to see how (and what) they grow every year. While I was there I picked up some of my favourite black petunias, I absolutely can’t wait to plant them in our garden🖤
That concludes today’s adventure in Almonte! Since moving out of Almonte (even though I still work there) I miss it so much, I fell in love with Almonte many years ago, then when I fell in love with a boy from Almonte, we joked that I was only with him so I could spend more time there😂 I keep saying that we may just find our way back there after our current build is complete and we move on to the next one! There are so many more favourites that I didn't have the chance to get to today like Mill Street Books, Gilligallou, Baker Bob’s, the Mill of Kintail and more. I already know I will be making a part two for Almonte in this small town adventures series! Thanks for reading😊
